Pimples or acne is a common problem faced by almost all teenagers and youth and is caused due to the hormonal imbalance mostly during puberty.

Basically, there are two forms of blemishes which break out on the skin's surface: blackheads and white-heads.  White-heads form when oil, dirt and bacteria are trapped below the surface of the skin.  Blackheads, on the other hand, form when the trapped elements beneath the layer of the skin turn black because of melanin.

Oil secretions build up beneath the blocked pore, providing a perfect environment for the skin bacteria Propionibacterium acnes to multiply uncontrolled.  Oil from both your hair and your face transfers to your pillow while you are asleep and builds up.

Once you've gotten fed up with the antibiotics, topical treatments and Accutane offered by your dermatologist, where do you start??

There are so many different acne treatments and products, cleansers, Proactive medication, topical antibiotics – it is difficult to decide which one would help to clear your skin.

Learning how to get rid of acne and treating your skin to become healthier and great looking is essential to be permanently free of this condition.  With many acne treatments available these days there is no reason to give up.

Getting healthy skin means a balance of daily cleansing along with replenishing essential body oils.  Cleanse your skin to remove dirt, bacteria and excess oils that can contribute to skin breakouts.

You can get rid of acne by taking vitamins, herbal tonics, following a special and balanced diet and regularly cleansing, toning and applying natural creams and/or lotions to the affected areas.

Keep in mind that getting rid of acne cannot be resolved with over-the-counter skin care treatments.  It’s important to work out a plan of action and then stick to your plan for acne prevention in order to see results from the acne treatment.

Alternative acne treatments are worth trying, and they are much less dangerous then some acne medicine offered by dermatologists.  Natural remedies are now being used to make many anti acne products, some of them used for direct cure, others only as auxiliaries in the treatment.

Homemade beauty recipes for acne or pimples and scalp acne are quite effective for acne cure.  Using oils that mimic the skin's natural oils (coconut and jojoba) will rebalance the oil production of your skin.

Natural acne remedies contain a base, plus a combination of oil control and skin soothing plant and herb derivatives.  You really can get rid of acne, naturally and is definitely less risky.  Using oils that mimic the skin's natural oils (coconut and jojoba) will rebalance the oil production of your skin.

Many companies today offer natural acne remedies and herbal acne treatments as an alternative to conventional acne treatments.  One of the natural over the counter products, Aloe Vera, is well known for its ability to get rid of acne swelling and scarring.

Essential oils are higher powered and more effective than any acid or peroxide created in a lab that was “derived” from some natural source.  Essential oils, natural herbs, and natural nutrients are the best way to kill acne fast.

There are many natural products that can address how to cure acne.  Some people may have sensitive skins, so soaps or cleansers should have all natural ingredients or ingredients that are not abrasive and irritating.  Applying harsh chemicals (usually found in conventional acne products) to the skin can actually exacerbate the skin's natural oil production and make acne worse.

A few points to remember:

  • Always wash your hands or sponge/face towel before applying anything to your face.
  • Cleanse or wash the affected area two to three days per day.
  • Pat your skin dry with a towel.
  • Apply a toner then cream or lotion.
  • Minimize the intake of oily foods such as fries, chips, chocolate, dairy products and all foods which are high in fat.  Meaning eat more foods which are in its natural state such as fruits.
  • Remember that exfoliating can actually increase the likelihood of acne by irritating the skin.  This brings existing acne pimples already under your skin (but not visible yet) to the surface which in turn causes a massive break out.
  • And NO ALCOHOL this will just strip your skin of its needed oil and cause it to over compensate causing worse acne, more pimples, itchy dry skin, and even red blotches after several uses.
  • Do not get sunburnt since pimples are raw skin, sunburn will only make it worse.
  • Always avoid the following ingredients: Alcohol, isopropyl myristate, lanolin, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, propylene glycol, mineral oil and parabens Benzoyl peroxide
  • Don't be afraid of using oil in products.  Jojoba oil makes an excellent base oil for cleaning deep into the pores and makes an excellent cleanser.
  • DO NOT POP YOUR PIMPLES, they scar and are a ***** to go away.

Moreover popping pimples may also lead to scarring which can be permanent in severe cases.  Finally toners work to close the top of the pore and return it to normal size, so accidental contact (if you touch your face) doesn't result in more pimples and deter your efforts at acne treatment.

Once you've gotten your acne cleared up, it's important to continue with the treatment that's working so it does not return.

Acne will usually clear up by time one enters their early 20s, but some people experience acne for the first time when they are in their 30s or 40s.

There are many home remedies and natural combatants, but taking the time to carefully investigate how to get rid of acne and understand how to control future break-outs will be time well invested in personal self confidence and health.

Thus, aside from the physical treatment of acne, you may also need some emotional support so that you will not experience a lowered self-esteem because of this skin condition.  Self esteem is such a serious problem for people with severe acne that it is truly worthwhile to explore the benefits of herbal acne remedies.
