With the advent of internet, our lives has changed, we are bombarded with all sorts of information, typically known as information overload. To wade through the internet swamp, you would need to have the right tools and techniques.

This article is written to help you reduce the time for you to complete your searches with the help of some searching tips.

I use CAMPS to boost my internet searches:

C : Concise

A : Add

M : Minus

P : Phrase

S : Site

CONCISE - be as concise and clear as possible on what you are looking for. Let's say, you want to perform an internet search for a sports car. Do you have any brand or model in mind? Searching for sports car on Google shows about 227million results versus 8.16million results if you search for ferrari sports car. So be clear about what you are looking for.

ADD - let's refine our search further with the add sign i.e "+" in front of the terms. Searching for ferrari sports car on Google shows about 8.16million results versus 8.08million results if you search for ferrari +sports +car. Might not look so significant for some of you but it does help especially if there are generic terms that some search engines might drop when executing searches, so put in the add sign ensures all terms are included in your searches.

MINUS - if we want to exclude certain items from our search, we could just exclude them with the minus sign i.e "-". Let's say we want to exclude those 2006 ferrari sports car from our searches, searching for ferrari +sports +car on Google shows about 8.08million results versus 2.65million results if you search for ferrari +sports +car -2006.

PHRASE - to further refine your searches, consider putting them in the exact phrase form in the quotes sign ". Searching for ferrari +sports +car on Google shows about 8.08million results versus 0.039million results if you search for "ferrari sports car". Now that's an improvement.

SITE - if you are looking for any information on ferrari sports car within Formula 1's website, you could search for ferrari +sports +car site:www.formula1.com, this shows about 54 results.

That's all for basic internet searching. From now on, adopt CAMPS for effective internet searches and gain some control.
