Computer virus is a way similar to a biological virus, it spreads and infects hosts. In computer language, viruses are one of the several types of malicious software or what they called a malware. In general, viruses are referred to as worms, trojan horses, malware and spyware but in fact they are all different from each other but has one objective which is to destruct, destroy, replicate and crash the computers.

Why People Create Computer Viruses?

Releasing computer viruses as well as worms and other malware is a CRIME in most jurisdictions. But why Virus Makers still make, create and spread viruses? There are lots of reasons:

> Research Projects - some viruses are created to prove some facts in a research project.

> Pranks - some people use viruses to gain financially from an infected computers of a big company. They will ask money from the company for them to resolve the viruses or if not they will spread more viruses then eventually the company may shut down its operations until they can buy another sets of PCs to use.

> Vandalism - this word is not new to us, hi-tech artists use viruses to express their superiority, their presence and their talents.

> Spyware / Crypto-Viral Extorsion - they will steal the identity of the product of the company then copy it.

> Art - Virus creators see it as a work of art, talents and hobbies.

Some virus writers creates virus with a good intention, their virus is called as "good Virus". It spreads improvements to the programs they infect and may delete other viruses in it. These viruses are however, quite rare, still consume system resources and may accidentally damage systems they infect. They can also be infected by some dominating viruses.
