At first, we hear about viruses, and then spam, and now this spyware. It comes to a fact that many computer users have serious issues with their computers. Many reports have claimed that spyware; ad-ware is the serious ongoing problem with their computer today! But, we constantly fight this ongoing battle of invasion of our computers.

In just two in half years ago, many of my customers have called upon me over and over again to assist them with their computer problems. Many weren’t too informed about the seriousness of computer viruses!

After sitting down with each and every one of them, and showing them what simple steps you must take to protect yourself from harm, you can surf with relief of any trouble.

There are hundreds of spyware removal tools that you can use on your computer, and most of them are FREE! If your computer is over two years old, you must have the following items on the machine to prevent spyware and viruses and problems.

The first, if you are using high speed internet access, either dial-up, DSL, cable modem or satellite connections, this solution all applies. For dial up you need an Anti-Virus program, not McAfee or Norton, I am highly against them because of the memory resources they bare. Use (if you want FREE- AVG) “CA’s {Computer Associates} e-Trust Threat Management, or NOD 32 by eset.com. These are the best commercial products you can buy on the market that will not utilize your memory resources. The AVG is completely FREE if you don’t have the money to buy one. But, it’s a must!

Second, this only applies to every one else except those using dial-up. A router is a must! Doesn’t neglect the issue, the router have many benefits to your security of going on line? The router has a built-in, hardware firewall for one. It protects your computers on the network from invasion from the outside world. The internet! Now, for those of you who have dial-up, there isn’t a concern for this because the router doesn’t do the dialing. Your computer does. Hence, high speed internet is always on, therefore, the router is always working to protect you. Now, the router, can also route computers onto the internet by going wireless.

Third, spyware! This is crucial. If you have that broadband of high speed internet, you need three applications. Most are FREE, unless you want to buy them. But, you can use FREE spyware to protect you. Ad-Aware. Spybot, and finally the Microsoft’s Defender. (Note: you must have a legal installation of Windows). Download each of these and run them daily! It’s extremely important as you will see that it will rid your spyware issues!

Finally, the last bit of information is the browser. If you are using AOL, even their broadband, usually you are using it for e-mail {the software that AOL provides you} but, if you are using AOL with high speed access like DSL, the browser to use is Firefox by Mozilla. Now, I always install this on every computer I work on. Regardless of their access to the internet, all because the ports on Firefox are low, preventing spyware hackers and keyloggers to attack the computer and make it run slow. With all these issues in place, you should be safe from spyware. But, you must run the applications every day, no ma
