Do you want to lose to lose a bit of excess weight, without going mad and killing yourself in the process?

Ok, here are just a few pointers that may help you fit in a bit of exercise in your every day life which will, in time, help get you back in shape:

First have a look at your daily schedule. Do you HAVE to take the car everywhere you go? Let’s be honest I am more likely to jump in the car out of laziness than walk, it’s just habit, but just a short walk every day really can make the difference and get the metabolism moving. If your work schedule demands that you spend all of your time driving from A to B, then why not try and fit in a short walk in your dinner break or better still on an evening?

Take a look at your diet. This might seem an obvious point, but it is not too difficult to substitute that pot noodle with a healthy sandwich in the middle of the day, or have some fruit instead of biscuits and fatty snacks. Also remember that breakfast is very important, this is something I often overlook, due to time restraints, but how often do we read advice about breakfast being the most important meal of the day?? It really does set you up for the day, and in turn helps to burn off body fat in the digestion process!

Do you have time to join a local gym? This does not have to be a full workout program, even a regular swimming session will help, and there are plenty of other activities to consider for all ages that will get you actively engaged in regular exercise, and they will offer professional advice and answer any queries you may have too.

At home exercise programs may suit you better. These can include yoga, step aerobics, exercise balls, treadmills, bicycles, in fact there a dozens of products for sale at really affordable prices - and you can then do some exercise while you watch TV!

Willpower, determination and commitment are all very important if you really want to succeed. Any of us can make a change or two in our lives to fit in some exercise. The level of exercise depends upon you and your circumstances. Most of us can manage some sort of sensible, light exercise, but those wishing to take up something more physical should remember to consult a professional for advice e.g. your GP or personal trainer in your local gym, where they can monitor your progress and make certain that you are not pushing yourself beyond your limits.

Good luck with the new exercise regime – I really hope it is a success, and that you will feel great in the process!!
