Snow Fashions: Keep Warm Stylishly

A most exciting excursion to the mall after Christmas might include a visit to the better fashion stores. Here, Dillard’s is a favorite store. Sales after Christmas make shopping for Winter Fashions a wonderful excursion for Mom and Daughters.

With the onset of more snow in the Colorado Mountains and Ski Resort Weekends eminent, chatter about what to wear on the slopes and still stay toasty warm came up. We discussed sweaters, layers, fleece, and all the other varieties of cold weather wear. Then when we arrived at the store, more assortments appeared.

This season’s hottest items are insulated micro fibers. Ultra thin layers of fine fibers woven into tight fabrics or knit into silky smooth sweaters make up a wide selection of choices. With two very different daughters we scanned the racks until we located selections for Preppy styles, Jock/Athletic types, and the ever popular over 40’s Mom styles.

My favorite sweater sets, slacks, and Shetlands seemed less available this year, in designs long enough for my maturing form, but… the latest tunic styles were readily available, and I liked the long lean look of them – on the models.

My daughters found exquisite designer fashions in their sizes, layerable designs that included sleek sweater styles, wrap around pullovers, layered tops, and fitted slacks to wear under ski pants and jackets, all in micro fiber fabric that would keep out the snow, and let the rain slide right off.

Micro fiber faux furs were my favorite find. Imagine a Mink coat, in Faux Fur for less than the price of a stole. I was in heaven.

I’m enjoying the snow, more and more… Bring it on Frosty!
