The surest way to guarantee your goal setting endeavors will fail is to doubt the outcome. Doubt, the thought that something may not work out the way you want it to, leads to a host of other problems which can shut your goal down permanently.
When in setting a goal you immediately have a doubt that it might not work out, you set yourself up for failure. Achieving a goal requires certitude, even in the face of apparent obstacles. Why? Because when you are certain of the outcome, you instantly create all of the conditions you will need to get there.
Thoughts are creative, and when you choose negative thoughts like doubt or worry, you redirect your creativity toward a negative outcome. Suddenly, there is another option, a negative outcome, where before there was only the certainty that you would succeed.
Doubt is that little bell that goes off in the back of your mind, that usually sounds something like, “But what if I’m wrong?” You might push it away initially, but it can creep up on you fast. Soon, the feelings of doubt lead to worry.
When you fret about the details in goal setting, you set in motion a system of events that can only lead to the negative outcome you anticipated. It is the only option. You may not notice it as such, as manifestations rarely arrive at your doorstep exactly as you envision them. But if, for example, you are worried that your new product launch will fail because you did not choose the right advertising firm, the key point is your business will fail, not what caused it.
The same is true for positive outcomes. When you are certain that your product launch will be a huge success, it will succeed but it may not be because you chose a fantastic advertising firm to help you promote the product. In fact, you may never know what actually took place in the Universe to help you realize your goal. But when the result is the achievement, does it really matter?
Worrying about how something can be done, and if you are choosing the right path, shows a lack of certitude. Worry also begets fear, which can ultimately paralyze you. Fearful thoughts are just as creative as positive thoughts. If you spend all day in fear of a negative outcome, goal setting failure is guaranteed.
It is very easy to slip into worrisome thinking on your path to goal setting success. The path is full of roadblocks, moments when you feel nervous and exposed, and other new experiences. When we are new to something, it leaves us vulnerable to insecure thoughts and negative thinking.
Now that you know how to ensure your own failure, you also know how to ensure your own success. It takes discipline, but if you can refrain from negative thought patterns like doubt, worry and fear; you can create the business, relationships, and bank account – the life of your dreams.
