Are You Enjoying Golf?

I know, kind of a funny question – but really – are you having fun? Are they people you play with having fun and enjoying golf as well?

When I asked myself these questions, a few thoughts came to mind. Yes most of the time, I personally really enjoy playing golf as do the guys I golf with on a regular basis. Although, sometimes a bit tension can fill the air because of a disagreement on a ruling or a guy that is struggling and gets a bad attitude for a few holes, or worse the rest of the round.

One of my biggest golf pet peeves is when I get matched up with a player that has no regard for the rules or has poor golf etiquette. This disgraces the game of golf and these people need to learn the rules and etiquette of the game before attempting to play a round of golf! Usually there is nothing I can do about it and just suck it up and try to play my best. Occasionally, I will casually try to help them with situations and subtly let them know they need to learn more about the rules of golf and golf etiquette. Okay – enough venting!

Because we are not golf pros (golfing for a living), I think it is imperative that we have the proper mindset during the good, bad or the ugly on the golf course. Golf is a tough sport to learn and even harder to maintain a high level of performance on a consistent basis. So, let’s take what we can get our of our golf games and do our best to enjoy.

As I get to know my golf partners better, I am not afraid to let them know these thoughts and have been amazed at how our level of golfing competition has increased as well as the overall enjoyment with my golf buddies on and off the golf course. You know the person(s) I am referring to.

Just some food for thought - that will hopefully help you enjoy your golf game even more!
