In the past few years many benefits have been credited to drinking green tea. The facts point to green tea being a method for helping with weight loss.

The truth is 50 % of Americans have a weight problem or are obese. Obesity has been linked to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, gallbladder disease and high blood pressure. Losing weight can help lessen the symptoms of some of these conditions and reduce the risk of developing these diseases.

The scientific community has studied the weight loss benefits of green tea for years. They have noted green tea can increase the energy used by the body. Their studies have shown green tea has a potential for helping with weight loss.

At the University of Geneva, a recent study concluded that green tea has thermongenic properties and increases fat oxidation. This study felt the results were in addition to those caused by caffeine. This conclusion is different in theory from others, which believed only caffeine in green tea was responsible for its weight loss benefits.

The same group who studied green tea's caffeine and weight loss came together in Switzerland to perform another study. They achieved the same outcomes, showing green tea has thermogenic qualities that make it an excellent addition to any weight loss plan.

Recent results of green tea extract AR25 (Exolise) study conducted by doctors P. Chantre and D. Lairon of the Laboratories Arkipharma in Carros, France showed that AR25 helps treat obesity. They used 80 percent ethanolic concentrate in green tea extract with standardized 25 percent catechins. The findings revealed the green tea extract directly inhibited gastric and pancreatic lipases. These enzymes are the main cause of fat storage. By delaying their actions, green tea extract presents a weight loss solution that can help cure obesity problems.

In the experiment, moderately obese patients given the extract had a decrease in weight by 4.6 percent. Plus a waist drop of 4.48 percent. These findings further prove the weight loss benefits of green tea.
