When you open a shared web hosting account you will receive a shared IP address such as , 125.78.6.30. It’s called a shared IP because your site is actually is actually ’sharing” this IP address with dozens of other domains. Conversely, with an Ipower dedicated IP address your site will be given a unique IP address that will be associated with your domain only.
* A dedicated IP address is a requirement for SSL certification if you are a small business running an eCommerce site. It also lets prospective customer know you are serious and professional
* A dedicated IP will help speed up the downloading up your site for your readers.
* On a shared IP address, the search engines may end up penalizing or blacklisting YOU if someone using your shared address spams them. Not so with your own dedicated IP.
* Many Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experts feel that using a dedicated IP will increase your web site rankings (SERPs).
Overall, I switched over from a shared IP to a dedicated one because for me, the potential benefits far outweighed the cost of a few extra pennies per month.
